Statement of Faith

The Holy Bible

We Believe that the bible (all 66 books), in its original manuscripts written by man, is the word of God having been verbally and plenarily inspired. Therefore it is entirely true in all it asserts, being inerrant and infallible, and it is to be obeyed in all it commands; being sufficient for life. The Bible is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.

The Trinity

We believe in the existence of only one true and living God, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, incorporeal, and invisible, eternally existing in three distinct co-equal persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; each are to be worshiped and obeyed.

God the Father

We believe in God the Father who created, and ever sustains, and rules over, the heavens and the earth. In great love, and mercy, He sent His Son to save us from sin, wrath, and death. He hears and answers the prayers of His people.

God the Son

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only son. He is fully God, and yet being born of a virgin, Mary, He is fully human. We hold to His miraculous conception by the Spirit; His sinless life, miracles, teachings, substitutionary atonement for our sins, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of God, and personal visible return to judge the living and the dead.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who moved holy men to write the Bible and has come into the world to reveal and glorify Jesus Christ. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life, continually indwells, fills, gifts, illuminates, guides, teaches, sanctifies, empowers, and seals them for the day of final redemption.

Man and Sin

We believe God created man in His own image and gave him dominion over the earth. As a result of man’s sin, this image became distorted. Yet as an image-bearer, man has great dignity, significance and value. Man is a guilty sinner by nature before God and chooses to live sinfully. Therefore he is under condemnation and will die. Every aspect of his being has been affected by sin, he is unable on his own to desire, seek, and come to God, and is unable to do good before God.

Salvation by Grace

We believe God imputes the righteousness of Jesus Christ to the person who repents and trusts in Jesus Christ alone. Salvation is by God’s grace through faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ and not in ones works. After being regenerated, the follower of Christ is sanctified to God’s purposes. The Holy Spirit transforms him more and more into the image of Jesus Christ as he strives for perfection being utterly dependent upon God for forgiveness, cleansing, and power. Jesus’ disciple will be glorified with an immortal body and forever with His Lord.

Church

We are part of an autonomous local body of baptized believers under the headship of Jesus Christ. We practice congregational government with a plurality of elders serving as leaders. Our unity is in the baptism of the Spirit. Our purpose is to magnify God by bringing people to Jesus (mission) and membership in his family, developing them to Christ-like maturity, and equipping them for ministry.

Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the local church to practice until our Lord returns: Baptism and the Eucharist. Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in the water in the name of the triune God. The Eucharist memorializes the death of our Lord and anticipates His return.

Christ's Final Victory

We believe in the invisible personal bodily second return of Jesus to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. At physical death a believer enters immediately into eternal conscious fellowship with the Lord, and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting glory and blessing. At physical death an unbeliever enters immediately into eternal conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting judgment and condemnation.
