(Prophet John with his wife, son and daughter)
John was born in 1965 in Faro, Portugal, in the Algarve region, into a typical Portuguese family with three brothers. His early exposure to Christianity was minimal, limited to occasional visits to a Catholic church. In 1971, the family moved to Montreal, Canada, and later to Vancouver in 1974, where John has lived in the Lower Mainland ever since. His parents divorced when he was 14 due to his father's struggles with alcoholism and the resulting physical and verbal abuse at home.
While in Vancouver, John had a cousin who frequently spoke about God, but his exposure to the Church remained limited. Later, his cousin married a Pentecostal man who openly shared the message of Jesus, and John began attending church sporadically.
In his young adulthood, John aspired to make a name for himself but found himself lost and discouraged, believing he would never amount to anything. At his lowest point, he called out to God, and God responded by connecting him with a strong Christian family. John prayed, repented for his sinful life, and promised to change. In that moment, he experienced a profound internal transformation, marking the beginning of his spiritual journey. A few months later, he was baptized in the Holy Spirit.
John then moved from the valley to the city, where he became involved with a local Foursquare church. During the late 1990s, a revival swept across the Lower Mainland, fueled by the powerful movements that began in Pensacola, spread to Toronto, and then reached Kelowna, the valley, and Vancouver. John attended several conferences, experiencing God’s presence in powerful ways. It was during this time that he felt the call to ministry, though he didn’t realize at the time that it would lead him into the prophetic ministry—a path that has shaped his life for over 30 years.
Over the years, John has traveled to several countries—including the USA, Europe, Thailand, Canada, and the Dominican Republic—witnessing God move powerfully through prophecy, healing, and deliverance. He has hosted numerous conferences and events, bringing in anointed teachers and ushering in God's presence. It was during this time that he met Pastor Ryan Frey, and their strong friendship eventually led to John’s ordination under Pastor Ryan’s ministry.
As John steps into a new season of ministry, he is focused on traveling and fully embracing the calling he received in 1996—all for the glory of God.
Ryan has dedicated over eight years to ministry within the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC), serving in various roles including Student Ministry Pastor, Young Adult Pastor, and Assistant Pastor. In 2016, sensing a strong call to plant a new church, Ryan founded Transformation Community Church (TCC) in Winnipeg. As the Lead Pastor, Ryan has been committed to teaching, preaching, and providing spiritual guidance while continuing to serve in leadership capacities. His heart for the community and his passion for outreach have shaped the church’s growth and influence in Winnipeg and beyond.
Ryan met his wife, Rachelle, at Booth University College, where he was pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Religion. This program profoundly impacted him, challenging and transforming his spiritual journey. Rachelle, who earned both a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies, also studied at Booth University College, where she specialized in Social Work. Her academic background, combined with her deep compassion for others, makes her an indispensable part of the leadership team at TCC. Her natural ability to connect with people, along with her attention to detail and organizational skills, has been a great asset to the church's mission and vision.
Since its founding, Transformation Community Church has expanded beyond its Winnipeg roots, planting church campuses across Canada and internationally. Under Ryan and Rachelle’s leadership, the church has become a dynamic community that prioritizes growth, outreach, and transformation.
Together, Ryan and Rachelle cherish their time spent with their two sons, Rohan and Reuben, who bring joy and purpose to their lives. As a family, they are committed to fostering a spirit of love, compassion, and service within their community.
Ryan is an advocate for relational ministry and believes in the power of authentic connections, both inside and outside the church. His passion for people, his commitment to spreading the gospel, and his heart for serving others have led him to mentor young leaders and serve in the broader kingdom of God.
